It is not that informative and doesn't tell how the police handle the dogs, but it does confirm that no dogs were killed and that citizens were warned to lock their dogs up. The link has quite a few ads...I'd skip it. I put it up mainly to give credit.examiner.com Not only can the citizens in the Boston area relax after the stress of the past five days, no dogs were killed during the door-to-door search. This may seem like a minor accomplishment and seem unimportant compared to those who lost their lives or were seriously injured. To dog lovers everywhere who are either having police kill their family dog, or having to read about innocent dogs dying at the hands of an officer, it's monumental. The safety of dogs during the search was a major concern to those of us who keep up with the number of dogs shot by police. The police officers who responded to the events that took place today are evidently better trained that the many departments who tend to shoot the dog first and ask questions later. People living in the area on lock down were cautioned to put their dogs in a crate if they had one. Not only for the protection of the police officer coming into the home, but for the dog itself. During the past 24 hours, the police officer's involved in the manhunt have endured more than any officer should ever have to face. They were dealing with terrorists who had already made it plain they didn't care how many people were killed by their horrific acts. Not only were these officers brave, they were respectful of terrified families as well as their pets. They inspected neighborhoods, never knowing whether they would be shot, bombed, or attacked by a backyard dog. It was undoubtedly a confusing night for citizens and police alike. It's nice to know there are competent police officers who are now our nation's hero's for getting these terrorists off the streets. And they did it without any innocent dogs being sacrificed because an officer panicked. Good work officers. You're all a credit to your profession.
