Ahh . . . You hit on my first motivation to buy Quantum stock. When I bought a Quantum Fireball Ultra drive I was very impressed by the way it was constructed compared to Seagate and WDC drives. I thought "Boy this Quantum HDD looks like it was made to be manufactured using robots . . . simple and elegant. They must be able to make these things a lot cheaper than their competitors . . . if the TA and fundamentals on QNTM looks good I'm buying". I was also very impressed by the performance improvement it gave the Intel TX, Cyrix P200 system I put the drive into. Compared to the WDC drive it soared, and checked out at the top of performance on the benchmarks.
