That money has to be paid if we don't want seniors to end up living in abject poverty and without health insurance.

Wow..first time I hear you say that SS and Medicare are crucial to our seniors.

At some point. Which recedes when the economy is growing. Austerity, which causes the economy to shrink, brings that point closer. Given that it damages the economy and leads to higher unemployment, it actually results in the debt load being higher. And, given our low rate of inflation, risks a deflationary spiral. All of these things can be seen in countries which have made austerity policy.

In other words, a lot of pain and risk and nothing like a pay off. Sounds sort of stupid, but what to expect from the Stupid Party? After all, ,it might increase their chances to win the White House...
