Yes, I think your right Noel, that the announcement of a nice
accomplishment. This took place without even much national
advertsing, the vast majority of ads being made before the product
was being promoted in over 800 Sears stores. But most impressive
is the dbs ads rates for Echostar, holding their own very well
against the like of Primestar (TCI) and even Direct TV. All this
with very little national advertising and/or presence in the major
retail stores (such as Best Buy, Circuit City, Radio Shack).
Echostar has the best orbital slots in the industry, and I'm sure
that Rupert is not alone in wanting a piece of this not yet cash
flow producing company. Do they really only have 40,000,000 or so
shares outstanding? The remote control sure blows Direct TVs away,
doesn't it?
