"Current Population is Three Times the Sustainable Level "

That's the KEY issue, that drives ALL the major problems we face today. China is the only country that has attempted to address it, which is why they don't have a population of 2 billion today.

1,344,130,000 (2011)

Every person feels they have the RIGHT to reproduce. Some feel this is a right granted by God. Population control is a political loser just about everywhere. The only reason China was able to sucessfully do it is that they are a benevolent dictatorship, and politics wasn't an issue.

If we had 7 billion deer, we'd be killing deer right and left to reduce their numbers. Humans are FAR more destructive to our planet than deer.

We'll either reach a point where we have a massive human die-off due to the global population being unsupportable, or we'll have massive resource wars that serve the same purpose. Because, we really aren't any different from deer - we're both animals that need to eat. 7 billion deer would eat themselves into mass starvation in no time, and nature would reduce them.

Currently, we're just waiting for "peak food", while we hold it off with science (and oil)!
