Most states, but not all, currently have e-filing capability.

But consider a small store (like one of ours) that sells maybe 10K/month worth of software -- typically, $50 items. We'll have to report, on this tiny business, to all 50 states every month. Someone will have to spend a couple days a month, probably more, in tax compliance for this one item; imagine the cost of that when multiplied by thousands of small Internet retailers. And that doesn't could handling the audits -- many states conduct a sales tax audit of nearly 100% of businesses, even the small ones -- every three or four years.

I have a friend who operates a small web-based business to sell custom jewelry he manufactures. What is HE supposed to do?

This insane argument that punishing small businesses by forcing their costs up is somehow "fairer" is just stupid, leftwinger bullshit. But a LOT of Republicans supported it.

Sickening.
