my lab just can't catch squirrels but he hangs out by my firewood stacks and catches mice. I've seen him, his reflexes are quick, but squirrels always have a big lead on him and he can't catch up and being a dog and not a cat he doesn't have the patience to ambush them like cats do

That reminds me of the new PC craze that real estate ads have to refer to the master bedrooms now as owner's suites. Can't be using that word master anymore.
