"And I think the world all agrees they are better off without Saddam Hussein and his "rape houses" (you DO care about how women are treated, right?) are gone, as well as his never ending search for more deadly weapons....remember that it is a documented fact (by the Red Cross and other agencies) that he used weapons of mass destruction on his own people (Sarin gas on the Kurds)."

I don't want to spend a trillion and counting on that. Iraq is not my country or my problem. Most of what you cite above is misinformed. Other than the few women his sons fancied, most Iraqi women were better off under Saddam than they are under the current Muslim leadership. Saddam wasn't looking for any WMD, and Hans Biix just about had proved it when Bush invaded. Saddam was no threat to us. You're not going to find any allies on THIS thread - even our token libertarian! Even most conservatives now admit that invading Iraq was without reason or purpose and did nothing for our security at great cost.

You are not a good fit for this thread. You may think you are center, but whatever you are, you won't fit in here. You may go quietly, or you can be banned. Take your pick.

I don't know anyone personally who is afraid of, nor who "hates Islamics." This is another myth that is passed around, and really is not true.
well, i personally DO know people who hate anyone who is Muslim or black or gay or pick your poison... you are pretty naive, or live in a bubble to say that... i even know people personally who think Obama is a muslim and who think GOD sends hurricanes because people have gay parades

as for your statement "Carter DID invade a country which did nothing to us as a country...Iran"... you are smoking some serious shit... Carter simply tried to rescue the hostages, unfortunately it failed... to characterize that as "invading the country" is pure horse shit

as for your rant on deregulation... your stupidity speaks for itself

and if you want to see islamophobes you need look no further than Fox news... America's #1 source for "fair and balanced"

of course you can also troll the many right-wingnut boards here on SI and find plenty of islamophobes if you so choose

Are you kidding or nuts? You don't want government monitoring your food and water; Or prevent cancer causing chemicals in food, clothing, medicine, pesticides; or a zillion other things large business can endanger us to make money which individuals cannot monitor by themselves.

Individuals cannot monitor large companies like Exxon.

You need to put on your thinking cap dude.

And liberals think for themselves a lot more than conservatives do. You guys just read off a script you all agree on..

We liberals argue about stuff with each other-lol.

You may not know it but your ideas are a right wing.

And just where do you think "regulating" industries and businesses does anything thing other than driving prices up for us, the consumer, and making it so that businesses can't survive? It offers not one shred of "protection" for any citizen of the USA, and instead only guarantees growing employment in the government sector.

Massive regulating is also a trademark of Socialism. Name one "Socialist" government that is truly successful.

And for your information, Carter DID invade a country which did nothing to us as a country...Iran...and he failed at that miserably as he did everything else. I know...I was serving in the military at the time. And then after that Ronald Reagan invaded Grenada...which I also saw as unnecessary. Just as unnecessary as the invasion of Panama to remove Manuel Noriega by the first Bush, who we set up in power there, and who provided a "playground" for politicians of BOTH parties.

It's hard to know where to start on these kinds of false equivalences. Perhaps it's best left said that Carter's "invasion" of Iraq" was never that. It was a failed hostage rescue effort. You may be confusing the CIA attempts to put the Shah in power in the 50s with Carter's rescue bit. No question it was badly done. But definitely not an invasion.

Rather than analysis, this looks like cherry picking.
