They are doing it to prevent reserves from depreciation. It's not a desperate move to manipulate markets. They have always done significant manipulation, just never held anything but govt bonds. I personally think CBs should not be allowed to hold anything but govt. bonds and gold. Things should move toward private banks not being allowed to be hedge funds, not in the opposite direction!
