I would say we were both, wrong and naive to the maximum

I know exactly when we lost:

When, maybe fifteen years ago, my step-grandson told me the only thing Warren Harding ever did was sign a treaty, so was useless. As was his silent successor. And I didn't correct him.

Same thing in the late '70's when a niece's civics text appalled me. And I said nothing.

America was sold out in small increments while those who should have known better acquiesced by silence.

I don't think we realized what was a-building.

I believed the blacks were not going to vote and flood the polls as the "experts" incorrectly predicted..........Naive is a good word for us. I prefer STOOPID!

In a first, black voter turnout rate passes whites

WASHINGTON (AP) -- America's blacks voted at a higher rate than other minority groups in 2012 and by most measures surpassed the white turnout for the first time, reflecting a deeply polarized presidential election in which blacks strongly supported Barack Obama while many whites stayed home.

Had people voted last November at the same rates they did in 2004, when black turnout was below its current historic levels, Republican Mitt Romney would have won narrowly, according to an analysis conducted for The Associated Press.
