Koan, Liberal Progressive Democrats in the early 1900's thought of themselves as elites, they dominated universities, so it's no wonder re-writing history in those same universities is commonplace. They embraced eugenics and racial theory and thought public policy should conform to the dictates of their race based science.

Woodrow Wilson was one of the leaders of the liberal movement, he brought Jim Crow laws to the north. He was a racist, so was FDR who believed in the inferiority of non-white people. They both shared the conviction that African Americans were racially inferior to whites.

With the eugenics movement in mind, Wilson campaigned for compulsory sterilization of criminals. He segregated the civil service, where racial discrimination thereafter became the norm. He required photographs at the time of application - African Americans then knew they wouldn't be hired. He dismissed many African Americans from the postal service and defended segregation saying it was in their interest.

Racism was so deeply embed in the liberal Democratic movement that the 1924 Democratic National Convention was called "Klanbake".

FDR signed an Executive Order that sent 120,000 Japanese Americans to internment camps, many were children. FDR met with white Olympians after the 1936 Berlin Olympics, but refused to meet with African Americans on the U.S. team. Jesse Owens, who won four gold medals in 36, complained that Hitler didn't snub him, FDR did. FDR refused to support legislation denouncing lynchings as a vile form of collective murder.

The historical record is available, if one is open minded enough to examine it.
