"Note: If you meet all of the program guidelines except for the citizenship requirement, you may still get help from this program. However, you may have to satisfy additional program rules before you can get the benefit. Game, set, match Please note that there are also legal immigrants, (green card holders) who are not citizens. This is what this is referring to, not illegal immigrants. Ref calls foul due to improper move, gives win.
Incorrect, they could choose to go to Mexico city, or Colombia, or Cuba, or Argentina, or England or Australia....they had a choice to go many places. They didn't have to come here. They could choose to work to change things in their own country. Mexico City, in case you don't realize this, is a part of Mexico. It is also ridden with the exact same problems as everywhere else in the country. Columbia is worse. And Cuba? Seriously? Or Argentina? Would YOU immigrate there? And if not, why wish that on someone else unless it is out of hate? Actually, a lot DO immigrate to Canada legally, because Canada recognizes college degrees from Mexico. You can go to the Latpro website and see where the government of Canada advertises for people for everything from strippers to scientists to immigrate there if they have the openings. My wife has a brother and sister who both immigrated there...the Canadian government bought them houses, gave them cash and set them on their feet until they are stable at the jobs they were brought to do. One has a business degree and an MBA, and the other has a masters in finance. As for England and Australia, both are more restrictive than the US as far as immigration goes, and are not easily accessible-an American would have serious problems trying to immigrate there, I know, I looked into moving to Australia myself at one time. So no, they didn't have to come here. They chose to come here, thinking that the American freedoms that everyone speaks of are real, that with hard work they could build a successful life here....but according to the Right they are only pipe dreams that are for people who are not brown, right? And how hard are YOU working to change your country? Can you do it all by your self? I know they can't.
Illegal aliens shouldn't be able to claim any dependents. In fact, they shouldn't be here. But, more importantly, they should not be able to claim out of country dependents for the same reason two people cannot file two different tax returns claiming the same dependent. If the dependents are located out of the country and are not citizens of the U.S., then there is no way to verify that they are not being claimed as dependents in their resident country. And then when they start claiming nieces and nephews..well, it's ridiculous They pay taxes. This is one of the things the Right complain about. When they find out they actually are, they want them to stop so they can continue to complain. And they are the only ones claiming that dependent ..it has nothing to do with anything else said here. And how can they claim dependents who are out of the country and never been here? Do you honestly think our government would accept a foreign equivalent of a Social Security Number? They can only use an ITIN supplied by the IRS for this purpose, and must submit documentation in order to get the ITIN.
You have misrepresented my words. Not at all. I have simply taken them in the context and manner in which they were stated. You said what you said, in the way you said it.
You asked for one example of proof. I gave you two. If you wanted more, you should have asked for more. In the past ten years there has been over 30,000 illegals from hostile countries in the middle east and africa who were intercepted on the southern border. There were another 41,000 from Cuba. I'm not going to do your homework for you though. The information is out there. You have two links that refute your claim. So the onus is on you to figure the rest out. I still stand by what I said. There has not been a single terrorist or terrorist suspect caught who came in through the southern border. All of them came here legally. Why should they come here illegally and go through all of that risk, when the American embassies in the middle eastern countries hand out visas with no meaningful checks, no quotas and no restrictions? They can come here just as easily as you being able to travel there. It is not the same with Mexico and the rest of Latin America. The links you gave also had nothing to do with actual terrorists. Just some that "maybe" could have been. Also, along the same note, did you know that the Times Square bombing attempt of a few years ago was actually thwarted by a Hispanic illegal immigrant? Neither one of those links has anything to do with a real terrorist, only "alleged" or "maybe".
Actually, we stopped needing her help a good 5 years ago. But she is family now and she has two young children and it helps her. We actually did recommend that she go to school and my wife offered to get her a job at one of the movie studios after she got her citizenship. But she likes the flexibility of her current job. My best friend/best man at my wedding is mexican. He makes quite a bit more money than I do. He's quite skilled. Your attempts to paint me as a racist are pathetic. Well, good for you. I am glad to know you think of her as family...however I believe it was a mistake for her not to want to go to school, but that is her choice and not mine. As for me, Mexicans (from Mexico) actually ARE my family, as well as my best friend/best man at my wedding being Mexican (from here). I go down there to the state of Morelos by Cuernavaca to visit them all the time...the ones that haven't left the country yet. You know Cuernavaca if you follow any news of the atrocities happening down there. Its where they find citizens hanging from the bridges by the dozens. If you aren't a racist, then why can't you actually see that all the language and rhetoric coming out of the Right is anti-Mexican, and as such offensive to them as well as being racist? By the Right Wing using "Mexican" and constantly referring to only that ethnic group, they are focusing American opinion on that one single group, making many think they are the only ones, and responsible for everything bad in the US. It is not unlike what Hitler did to the Jews prior to WWII. He first singled them out as an ethnic group, then started dehumanizing them by using derogatory terminology towards them, making the people think they were responsible for everything bad, and then had the public thinking they were inferior to the rest of the country, or subhuman. This paved the way for the atrocities that followed, with the willing participation of the public because the propaganda had molded the public opinion to suit their agenda. I agree we need secure borders, but both need to be secured. And if the government of Mexico was given the right kind of help economically in support of their war on the cartels, as well as for job creation, they would have no reason at all to want to leave home.
The official "Gateway States" are Texas, California, Florida, Illinois and New York.
There is no significant flow of canadians into the U.S.. Florida certainly has its fair share of Cubans flowing into it.
And officially around 5% of illegals here do come from Canada. Arizona, even though they scream the loudest, really doesn't have the traffic that people think going through there, they just cry the most trying to get more Federal money...there isn't really anything else there to bring cash for the state. In order to cross the border there, one has to spend days, sometimes over a week, in the desert. It is extremely dangerous, and hundreds of men, women and children die each year in the attempt. Even the ones who all make it loose their toenails, fingernails and sometimes their hair due to the sun and dehydration, not to mention the sunburns can be bad enough to warrant hospitalization from exposure.
When the flow of Americans emigrating to Mexico is greater than the flow of hispanics coming to the U.S., this will be meaningful. This has already been happening. Between 2007 and 2013 the number has dropped from 12.7 million to around 11 million, a significant drop. This has been due to the economy in the US-those that didn't really want to stay here and become citizens and members of our society have already left and gone home. And the cost to arrest, detain and deport that 11.1 million remaining would be in excess of $285,000,000,000, according to the Department of Homeland Security. The U.S. spent $5 billion in 2010 to deport a record 393,000 immigrants. In addition, the US would loose in excess of $1.3 trillion from the GDP as a result of their deportation. On top of all of that, who would pic the lettuce for your salad? Americans won't. Its already been tried, and they refuse or give up after a few hours. Prisoners refused and said to send them back to prison. Those on probation and parole refused, saying they would rather go back to jail.
We agree on this one. Thousands of Mexicans will end up dead because of this misguided (criminal) program. This was not only about Operation Fast and Furious. It was also about the CIA working with the cartels transporting drugs across the border, as well as the meddling in Mexican politics to ensure the instability of their government, economy and markets. We helped create the mess down there, and it started long before Obama came into office. It goes back over a decade if you follow the trail. To say it isn't our responsibility is like saying that we made the mess but don't have to even help clean it up. |
