I agree with a vast majority of what you said. However, the Mexican Repatriation" was not that long ago, and there are still plenty of people alive. And this action is also a part of what colors our treatment of Hispanics today.

I doubt that it colors our treatment of hispanics today. As your link pointed out, most people don't even know about it. Admittedly, I had never heard of it. And where what was done was clearly wrong, how many people do you think are still alive today? Even babies would be 75 years old today. But if there are, then let's invite them back to the U.S. Make amends to the individuals who were wronged. And because this was done 75/85 years ago due to racist motives, does not mean that those racist motives exist today in a generalized segment of the population. Simply stated, your liberal use of racist accusations diminishes your credibility.

Hell, I don't even want to deport illegal immigrants who are already here and established. I want to stop letting them in. "Them" means ALL immigrants. We need to get our economy back on track before we take on newcomers. When our unemployment rate is back to a reasonable level, then maybe we can open our doors up to LEGAL immigrants.

As far as those who came here illegally, I do not think that they should ever get the right to citizenship. They should not vote. At this point, give them green cards, but note that they came here illegally and that limits their rights here. And absolutely NO government benefits. Government benefits should be limited to citizens.
