The west picked up the remains of the ancient Greeks and took them to their logical conclusions: republics, inductive and deductive logic and modern civilization. The whole ball of wax. No one else did that. Not the east or middle east. So Durant was correct to give them the credit and concentrate on them. That is why the west got such a big head start over the rest of the world in the civilization department. The middle east is still mired in a 13th century culture of comprehensive myth. The Danish culture is the spearhead of the 22nd century culture of reason.
