The original post went to this where I bought for my cousin.

Of course it is the market so timing makes a difference. Got my old work buddy in COP higher than my cousin, but my daughter has an original buy price of $60.72 so doing better. That timing would change all prices and divs.

Just wanted to make sure I wasn't doing badly for my cousin so I came up with this.

One snapshot in time. A buyer of CVX on that day would have more money today, but the buyer of COP would have more income. IF I figured right.

200 COP @ $64.96 = @ $85 = 153 ( 152.84 ) shares of CVX.

Then
COP div. = 2.20 x 200 = $440
CVX div. = 2.88 x 153 = $440.64

Now

CVX div. = 3.60 x 153 = $550.80

COP div. = 2.64 x 200 = $528
PSX div. = 1.25 x 100 = $125 = Total $653

CVX then $85 x 153 = $13,076.40. Now $18,561.96

COP then $64.96 x 200 = $12,992 Now $11,980
PSX now 100 x $6180

Total COP / PSX = $18,160
