It's a skunkworks project. Why am I so sure? Because of what you say below.

I think the great days of bitcoin and bitcoin-like currencies are ahead of us because we're about to see really, really, really, cheap, smart phones. I can see bitcoins really taking off in S America, Asia and Africa.

These are people places, India and China, too. Also, virtuals smoothly overcome currency trade barriers once bigger players figure out the added value of direct transfer not fettered by CBs.

India with most cash outlawed - yes.
Bitcoin was around $110 at the time of your post, now it's at $2600.
