My husband and I just look at each other and shake our heads over stories like this. Many of these titans are so out of touch with what people want that they haven't a clue how to turn around their companies.

There's a version of this story about the J. C. Penney executive in a recent NYTimes story that offered these details but a great deal more on the money he spent on himself. Clearly didn't belong at Penney's
