I understand some find meaning in the culture of their ansestors and I say good for them, but pride?

And when I was a child Americans had at best ambiguous feelings about pride. Excessive pride was considered a problem. Today all ambiguity has been lost. The more pride the better. In fact there is something wrong with you if you aren't vastly proud of at least one thing you have no control over.
