Whereas milling or carving is a subtractive procedure, 3D printing is an additive procedure, and can be used with many different composite materials including metal alloys. I think dental labs will become increasingly technologically capable, in order to fulfill the prescriptions of the modern dentist.

Eventually, but it is going to require some serious materials improvements before you can make teeth with AM.

I'm sure they'll come over time.

My dentist has a mini cnc machine that makes crowns as he is extracting the tooth that needs to be replaced. No idea what his cost was, but the future is now.
