OT** Why AOL is strong? Because it shows all the dirty laundry. It's very visible.

>>>Despite what most on SI think, the stock seems to be very strong. But why?<<<

The reason is simple. Late last year when AOL switched to the flat-rate and their system got so overcrowded, the media and analysts were proclaiming AOL doomed, I just couldn't believe what I was hearing. I bought from the low-30s down into the high-20s for a long-term position. I then began trading the stock on its volatility.

I knew AOL would be a huge winner after being beaten down so low. It is pure logic: AOL is over-crowded for months on end, despite cease of advertising, simply because people want in! Too much demand for your company's product/service is almost never a negative for the long-term, and only underlines your superiority over the competition. What other OSP offers anywhere near a comparable service to AOL? MSN, Compuserve, or Prodigy? Ha! That stock was a no-brainer. I only regret selling it in the high-40s to 50...but I did so on valuation.
