When the last glaciation took place & a great plain extended out 15mis west of Golden Gate Bridge and we have 1000s of fossils of the mega fauna of that age Sloths, Camels, Mamoths, Sabre Tooth, Short Bear, the largest most fierce Dire Wolves. Its believed the Mamoths did the ritual mud baths then visited these rocks to shave the mud off & that force combined with the silicates smoothed the surface. We always forget that all creatures great & small have to deal with the ticks , lice & parasites that in reality along with bacteria & planktons make up the bulk of "life" mass of the planet, greater than all mammals, fish & humans put together. They believe that the Mammoths must have lined up to use these rocks for that purpose, an interesting view of why we become more intelligent , to overcome constant plagues like these such constant threats & irritants naturally call for a response. (But of course it can be argued that god created lice & ticks for this purpose "necessary evil" or whatever) Scientists are skeptical till they come to view these smoothed areas in rocks, then go away believers. They have also done microscopy, it wasnt wind rain but definitely the Mammoths. We find the same thing in the caves of Australia where 200-400 generations of humans made their homes, the same smoothing of the rock surfaces made that way by 1000s of years of human activity, the walls literal art galleries of cave paintings. Its interesting to see how dumbed down things have become, it happens when you become to comfortable, to warm all the time , overfed, dullwitted . Never really threatened except by images on a screen sent by satelllite or cable 1/2 a world away & disease and most all the associated pains a thing of the past. Makes for some really stupid humans that lost their grasp completely, but give me one 14ft short bear or Sabre Tooth or Dire Wolf, would wake them right up again.( Humans were probably smarter 15,000 yrs ago then they are now, if this thread is any indication)
