Blasher you are correct NOT all gaps are filled. Yet MOST ARE. And as I posted earlier I've yet to see a RUNAWAY gap at a record high NOT get filled.

I know I know there are those who will say. THIS TIME IS DIFFERENT.. UH HUH.

As I look objectively re stock prices on my screens or the news of this day. HMM as I was saying to a contact earlier. Did I miss something and unemployment was 4.5%/5.5%/6.5% I could have sworn I read or heard 7.5% and down a tenth.

I also must have misunderstood the employment numbers. I could have sworn they were 175k. I must have been wrong and they were 200k/300k/400k Last I heard to get to 4.5% unemployment higher jobs numbers were needed. Much higher than 175k.

But what the heck, I'll just have to rely on the earnings and ooops I guess I'll have to ignore the guidance that was lower for many.

ALL to say.. I love green but when I see a stock I own gap UP and get to excessive and hit a target I say bye bye or get defensive.

I don't believe I've EVER bought anything making an all time high, gaps or no gaps.... I'm an investor, not a trader so I buy when on sale and take profits when surging.

so you see my point . . it was better to have not Opened any Up positions today . . since the Open, SPY has been weak .. now only 30-cents above the Low of the Open.
but the gap is still open.... and a buyer at the open, as of now, would be ahead.

I agree it is dangerous to buy after a gap open... my post was only a warning that they don't always fill. I know one national figure who writes a newsletter and has a radio show who missed the 2009 bottom in the 600s after calling for buys all the way from 1400s to 800s... then after it started to go up, he said to wait for a test of the low that never came.

I see TWO island reversals charts on the above graph..... it is VERY BULLISH if they don't fill...
