It is not necessary to continue to live in the past. Florida is a southern state and it voted a African American into the WH twice. While the Repubs appealed to the racial instincts to win votes, the Democrats appealed to the economic instincts by drawing a deep divide between labor and capitalists. These folks are all the same and no one is better than the other.

I have advocated socialism several times. It has nothing to do with my culture as you opine. Instead, it has a lot to do with my experiences not from reading books alone but also living it in real life. I look at how the Germans used socialism to pull themselves out of the shambles of WWII. India also has a socialist Govt. and they are knocking on the doors of economic giantism. America continues to live in the past with a economic system that was relevant 200 years ago but not today where the social challenges have become larger than it was then and more complex.

If folks like you (you are not alone, there are many like you including the right wingers) refuse to see the light of the day and adapt with the times, then you will be left behind.

Isn't it ironic that the two rising economic giants, India and China, do not have powerful unions but instead have Govts. who represent the interest of the workers and wield all the power?
