<<they are ready to mass-produce MR heads.>>I'm sure you're right but do you know whether they have any customers lined up to buy them? A few months ago their strategy seemed brilliant to me, but I think things have changed far more than they would have expected. The transition to MR is taking place more quickly than anticipated and the TFI heads are not going to be the cash cow they had planned on while they lined up their MR contracts.
A real source of concern is the nature of the relationship between APM and WDC. If Western Digital is really displeased with APM, then that could be a further obstacle in the near term. Just take a look at what happened among IOM, STMD, and HMTT.

Dear Sankar: For the record, what you just surmised is EXACTLY what Crisman said in a phone interview nearly a year ago. I dont remember the exact words but it went something like TFI's are more profitable and there is still a good market. When MR's are necessary we will be there with the product. Far as I can see, he has done just as he said. JDN
