The Bureau of Diversity Compliance
from National Review Online - The Corner by Mark Steyn

On Thursday, I wrote here about a Canadian police department’s attempt to shut down a Pamela Geller speech in Toronto by threatening the rabbi hosting it. The Ottawa Citizen editorial on the matter begins:
The York Regional Police department should be ashamed.

Indeed, they should. Thanks to the York Regional Police’s creepy and Orwellian “Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Bureau”, Canada is now a land where cops are sent round to synagogues to threaten rabbis – all in the name of “diversity” and “inclusion”, which must give the old-school fascists a laugh at their Monday-night poker game in hell. Jewish organizations north and south of the border ought to be up in arms about this. According to Brian Sibley, Inspector Ricky Veerappen, the head of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Bureau, is himself Muslim – which may or may not explain why he’s strutting about like the Ontario branch of Saudi Arabia’s Mutaween. Dig this example of a 21st century policeman’s thinking:

Veerappan apparently told Kaplan Geller’s speech “would not be endorsed by York Regional Police.”(Since when is it up to the police to “endorse” speech?)

It’s not. And the fact that the York Regional Police think it is testifies to how deep runs the spongey, insinuating soft-totalitarian rot of “diversity”. In response to the controversy, the YRP issued a press release, full of the usual pansy evasions but revealing nonetheless:
Free speech is the right of every citizen and York Regional Police recognizes that. However, some of Ms. Geller’s previous comments clearly conflict with the values of our organization and our continuous work to enhance all relationships in our diverse community.

As I wrote on Thursday, it is not the job of a police force to enforce its “values”, but to uphold the law – without favor. If you want an ideological police force that enforces “values”, try Riyadh or Waziristan.

The York Regional Police should not have a “Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Bureau”. And, having no understanding of the proper role of a police officer in a free society, Inspector Ricky Veerappan should be compelled to seek alternative employment.

"They do not want to own your fortune, they want you to lose it; they do not want to succeed, they want you to fail; they do not want to live, they want you to die; they desire nothing, they hate existence, and they keep running, each trying not to learn that the object of his hatred is himself . . . . They are the essence of evil, they, those anti-living objects who seek, by devouring the world, to fill the selfless zero of their soul. It is not your wealth that they’re after. Theirs is a conspiracy against the mind, which means: against life and man."
More and more, the quote you posted is how I view those on the liberal left. Years ago, I thought they were just ignorant fools who couldn't understand the destruction their policy prescriptions were inflicted on the country. Today, I harbor none of those preconceptions. That is what I have learned posting on SI for over a decade. I’ve learned they understand, they just don't care! Power and greed motivate them over anything else - power over others, power over the individual and power over freedom.

Liberals today have completely bought into the former Soviet Union's socialist communist utopia, and believe in their heart-of-hearts, that if they were in charge, it would have worked. That is what motivates them to post round the clock on these boards. That is what motivates them to lie, cheat, steal and kill. Note; all of the recent mass killings have been influenced by a person living in the liberal world, filled with hatred. Hatred toward the country, hatred toward their fellow man, hatred toward other students, or hatred toward life.

On the other hand, conservatives seek a free world, one where some succeed tremendously, and some fail. A world in which the invisible hand of free market capitalism serves mankind, not some government bureaucrat out to enrich themselves at the expense of the people.

Who are these socialist? Look at these boards. Look at college campuses, look at the ones who sit in tents in Wall Street and rape woman, then cover it up in the press. Look at who prevents energy from being inexpensively used to provide comfort for everyone, and look at those who provides safe haven for Muslim terrorists to bomb Americans having a good time in a running event.

It is supporters of the liberal Democratic party. The same party that started the Klu Klux Klan. Passed Jim Crow laws, and prevented men and women of color from being free in the south for over 100 years.

Their techniques have changed. But their destruction and desire for power over their fellow man continues.

"The smallest minority on earth is the individual. Those who deny individual rights cannot claim to be defenders of minorities."

I just realized that, 50 years ago today, the still-ambulatory GeorgeCorley was denied his right to stand in doorways. It was a very good day.
