This guy on the II Chariot Oil board in London seems to have connections. Chariot drilled 2 dusters last year. HRP.V drilling now. Here is his post (again WEB.V and EOG.V have large acreage positions in the Walvis Basin offshore Namibia):

iii.co.uk

Strong rumours that the wing at well has encountered carbonates with circa 30 % porosity.
This would be an excellent reservoir , similar to the cameia well in angola and has huge implications for the carbonate potential reservoirs in chariots central blocks, as high porosity carbonates are frequently caused by changes in ancient sea levels, which are obviously regional. Might also have implications for chariots zamba prospect.

There are also strong rumours that hrt have found gas.
Marcio is getting very good at finding gas.
The implications of this are difficult to tell atthis stage, a lot will depend on whether there were oil shows also, and is this wet gas with an oil rim, also what is the source for the gas .

If the gas was sourced from the albian aptian then it's highly likely that the deeper murumbo prospect sourced by the barramian is also gas.
Alternatively , if this could be a gas cap with an oil field underneath it, which is not unusual , then this confirms the presence of oil source rocks. These could be from either the barramian or albian aptian. The devil is in the detail and more info needed.

If this is true, and it's only rumour at this stage, then it confirms a working petroleum system.this is good, but it would be better if oil is confirmed also.

Remember large gas fields are highly valuable, just look at mozambique and the value of it's gas discoveries.

The presesence of gas could be caused by a high thermal gradient in the barramian caused by the local presence of volcanics, which overcooked the oil source rocks. If the albian aptian source were mature for oil, then gas migrating from the deeper barramian might displace part of an oil accumulation thereby creating an oil field with a gas cap and hence explain the high number of oil seeps in the area.

The devil is in the detail, which we have yet to hear. But it will certainly help chariot determine the best locations for oil in it's blocks.

Remember, this is just strong rumours at this time, waiting on confirmation.
Hrt's anchor handling vessels were moored outside walvis bay and both have now left the area , presumably to go the rig.

Monday pm is going to be interesting.
