It turns out Gary Tuchman's trip to Little Diomede sets him apart from Sarah Palin -- *because she's never actually been there, nor has she set eyes on its neighbor in Russia.* No surprise there......most Alaskans haven't seen Russia. What's the interesting part about Palin's assertion is her effort to convince Gibson and the country that seeing Russia [from her house] was all she needed for international diplomacy. And if you watch the clip, you can see she absolutely believes she is onto something important. It was frightening back then and even more so now.
