Sturgeon is a beautifully ugly prehistoric fish. As a boy I grew up fishing them with my dad. I was always amazed to think they had no bones - only cartilage. Are there any other fresh water fish w/o bones? We loved to eat them smoked. I was also amazed to think the big ones (six footers) had outlived most humans.

100 years ago they used to stack them up on beaches and burn them because they tore up perch nets.
