Barney Frank lied through his teeth. He was all over the place after the collapse claiming he was not wanting to push home OWNERSHIP on the poor, only low-cost RENTAL housing. This was an out-and-out lie. Back in 03 & 05 he was pushing HARD for people who couldn't afford it to buy houses. At the same time, Clinton's revisions to CRA in the late 90s were causing banks to push hard to make loans to people who couldn't afford them.

You have people like Al coming here blaming Bush for the crisis, but the reality is that it was totally a result of bad liberal policy.

Contrary to Al's claims, Bush DID see the problem and was trying to get Democrats in Congress to deal with it, but they were much more concerned about providing cheap ownership to the poor.

I can't honestly say that Bush ought to take even a small fraction of the responsibility for it; it was clearly a result of the same old crap policy -- trying to give the poor stuff they can't even afford to keep up, let alone pay for.
