You're presumption that the rich getting richer someone takes money from the poor is just fundamentally wrong, at least in a growing economy.

I very much care about the economy. I make excellent money and I want to continue doing so. But I can't do that if we keep crippling the economy. And I certainly don't want to be here if we keep on this path. Because if you know anything about history, when you cut enough people out of the economy, people just lose their heads...

They are unwilling to understand that the pain is going to spread to them if the imbalance in the economy and its classes continues. They insist on believing they are immune. Sort of like the average German in Nazi Germany.

Over the past 30 years the economy has been decent overall. But, except for a period during the 90s, it has sucked for the middle class and even more for the poor.
So what you're saying is that for the past 30 years, life for the 99% has really sucked.
