"When the press actively avoids challenging the politicians who are in power and instead provides cover for the politicians, they cease to be the fourth estate. Instead, they become the propaganda arm of the government."

So true.....

They really are at this point. I'm not saying it is a conspiracy, but it just happens that most media types are liberals.

The interesting thing is that a lot of the aging media people today were attracted to the business by the Watergate era investigative reporting. But now, they are so caught up in the liberalism, that kind of reporting is totally off the table.

Mother Jones' Kevin Drum is a great example, IMO. When they had possession of the "47%" tape, they were perceived as an "investigative news" organization. Yet, on Benghazi, he says --

"Have you been keeping up with the latest on Benghazi! Yeah, me neither. But I guess it's time to correct that."
...

"What's it all about? Beats me, but among other things I gather the witnesses are going to rehash old charges about Hillary Clinton turning down requests for more security at the Benghazi consulate and dropping the ball on the night of the attacks. There's also a bunch of background sniping involved in the whole thing, including Toensing's claim that the State Department refused to give her a security clearance and Issa's pique over the rules under which his committee has been allowed to view documents. Beyond that, who knows? I guess we'll find out next week."
