Yes, very true.......it's not the companies that pay directly. Research profs submit proposals to companies and with the money they get they support grad students to work on their projects... Ten, I think, works for Intel and I'm sure they accept research proposals from college profs.... To be clear, if a person wants to go to grad school and doesn't get an assistantship offer , he may still be admitted to the college but may have to pay for himself..... But in science and engineering is a rarity... My son went through 6 years of grad school at Penn State and didn't pay a cent toward his PhD. They get a living stipend also...

Intern did not get a car, just a car allowance and a housing allowance. If they don't want a car, Microsoft gives them a free bicycle which they can keep at end of summer..... Bullshit you say???
