Yes PNF is point and figure. It's easier to abbreviate.

More importantly point and figure is more than x's and o's. Most understand it to be a good way to look at accumulation and distribution. Some look at it to see a pattern that can suggest some pattern that suggest buying or selling ex. Bearish catapult ,

So read up just to become informed.
