Ugly Truth of Benghazi Testimony Tests Even Obammunists Considerable Lying/Traducement Capabilities
..........................................................................................................
Reaganite Republican ^ | 09 May 2013

All hail the truth tellers...

  • The US Consulate was attacked by 60+ armed men and hit by mortars aimed with military precision- everybody and his dog on the ground in Benghazi that night knew it was an organized terrorist attack.
  • Former deputy chief of mission in Libya Greg Hicks said there was no protest whatsoever in Benghazi, and in his opinion absolutely no Libyan public awareness the YouTube clip existed- a 'non-event'.
  • He went on to say that the Obama regime's BS fairy-tale not only harmed relations with/'embarrassed' the new Libyan government -who said immediately it was a 'terrorist attack'- but also contributed to an inexcusable 3-week delay in getting FBI agents to the (picked-clean-of-evidence) crime scene.
  • The body of our dead ambassador went missing for hours, yet eventually surfaced at a hospital run by the Islamists suspected of orchestrating the attack in the first place. Hicks called the phone call re. Stevens' death the 'saddest' he's ever received.
  • When Hicks called Hillary at 2AM to tell her of the siege and death of Ambassador Stevens, she never even bothered to call him back that night... nor the entire next day. Hey, who needs his version of events when she and Barack were busy cooking-up The Truth (stat, before Susan Rice hit the talkies)?
  • Later, once Mr Hicks made clear he was unhappy with the government's fictional version of events, he was promptly appointed -like a child, and by the Obama Administration itself- a 'chaperone' who's presence was mandatory whenever he dared try to talk to visiting members of Congress, etc.
  • Once he did otherwise -because his 'babysitter' lacked the necessary security clearance to be in-on the conversation- Hicks was called and chewed-out by Hillary's 'angry' chief-of-staff Cheryl Mills, who demanded a full reporting on what was told to Rep Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) that day.
  • Soon afterward, the previously valued and professionally praised Hicks was being criticized, blamed, slandered... and effectively demoted.
  • Neither US installations at Tripoli or Benghazi met the State Dept's own guidelines- a failure that lies right at the feet of Hillary Clinton.
  • A fourth witness could not testify- strategically blocked from doing so by State Dept red tape that has prevented their attorney from getting sufficient security clearance.

Meanwhile from the craven left we get:

  • Servile Obammunist lackeys in Congress attempted to blame the Benghazi debacle on Sequestration.
  • Outside of Fox and Cheryl Atkins of CBS, televised MSM media all but ignored yesterday's SIX HOUR Benghazigate hearing while some milked details of the Cleveland sex-dungeon story as a handy-dandy smokescreen.
  • As thanks for her principled journalism, Atkins is already being treated like an unprofessional pariah
    by her own network
    .
  • Predictably, goofy lib bloggers are flailing-away with puerile 'arguments' and attempts at mockery of the hearings, and will continue to do so until those wackadoodle Republicans drop all this unpleasantness and join them in a chorus of 'What Difference Does It Make'.

So is that it? Hardly- there's now a rising call that a Select Committee on Benghazi be convened- but like most things we need to get done these days, that's going to require
some prodding
of Speaker John Boehner: I encourage all to do just that today.

Set aside the disgraceful actions of the broadcast MSM today in not covering the riveting testimony of Greg Hicks, and set aside even the shocking conduct of the Administration on the night of 9/11/12 and during the days, weeks and months following.

The MSM is almost exclusive hard left and almost completely committed to the defense of President Obama and former Secretary of State Clinton. With a few, honorable exceptions they will ask no hard questions and conduct no follow-up, and of course the senior levels of the Administration are beyond shame and no “Deep Throat” is likely to emerge from their ranks.

But Speaker Boehner and the GOP control the House and they can almost instantly set-up a Select Committee to follow up on the shocking testimony today. The transcripts of my interviews with Stephen Hayes and Eli Lake will be posted here later, but it is enough to say that there were many extraordinary revelations made today and a great number of serious questions rasied which need to be asked and answered, quickly.

At a minimum the House needs to subpoena the NSA and the Department of State for the recording of the 2:00 AM phone call between Mr. Hicks and Hillary and her senior staff, a recording both I and Eli Lake suspect exists as a matter of routine NSA practice, if it has not already been erased. Subpoenas must also go out to Hillary, everyone on the conference call at 2:00 AM, and of course to Cheryl Mills, the enforcer of the cover-up. Lt. Colonel Gibson must be deposed, and his commander and then that man’s commander etc. until we get to the bottom of the stand down order. The denial of air assets from Aviano is another area of great interest. Investigators need to travel to Libya and speak with the senior officials there as to their response to being embarrassed by the Admiistration.

It must all happen quickly and without fear or favor. Not to establish a Select Committee draws the Speaker and the GOP majority into the very cover-up they are supposed to be investigating.

Call 202-225-3121 and ask for the Speaker’s office. Tweet him @SpeakerBoehner and @EricCantor as well. On my show alone we have heard calls for a Select Committee from Senators Ayotte and McCain and from Congressmen DeSantis, Gowdy and Jordan, all three of whom did extraordinarily fine work today, as did Chairman Issa and Congressman Chaffetz and many others. It is clear the Oversight and Governmental Reform Committee is far ahead of the other four committees “investigating” this scandal, but all must be brought under one roof with one staff and one set of questions and evidence.

Think about this: At 2:00 AM Hillary Clinton spoke with the man in charge in Libya who informed her the consulate had been attacked, the Ambassador was missing, and that his people had to evacuate. An hour later news of the ambassador’s death reached that man, Greg Hicks, and he informed the State Department.

Hillary never called him back that night or the next day.

Think as well about the fact that some of the most extraordinarily moving testimony ever given in the halls of Congress –given by Mr. Hicks about the entire evening but especially about the security forces who climbed the roof of the Annex in Benghazi to recover the dead and the wounded– and that it is not being played on most American media tonight.

Astonishing and disgusting.

There is nothing the Speaker and his colleagues in the House can do about the media or the Administration. But they can do the obvious and right thing, by establishing a Select Committee and thereby build upon the sense of urgency developed today, and they should do it now.

Jay Carney explains away Benghazi----------------------:

"My, there Republicans are obsessed with Benghazi. Benghazi was a bump in the road. I mean, what difference does it make? Obama was asleep while he watched it unfold. It's the Republican's fault because they pushed for the Sequestration that Obama invented. Rush Limbaugh is a bad man. This is a FoxNews-created scandal extensively reported on by CBS. George W. Bush is to blame. It's a vast right wing conspiracy. The terrorists that did this were not committing an act of terror. We never once altered the talking points' twelve different versions. These talking points originated in the CIA that the White House authored. This was a spontaneous uprising caused by an offensive video that nobody ever saw. The Koch brothers are evil. We only made one adjustment - 'consulate' to 'diplomatic facility' -- among the hundreds of other adjustments. Mitch McConnell is a bad man. Newt Gingrich. If we do not count the Navy Seals that were ready to respond, the nearby fighter aircraft and the Specter gunship circling overhead, there were no assents we could have responded with. Why are Republicans such fringers? Mitt Romney caused the entire Benghazi tragedy. Just because Barack Obama is the only person that could order the assets to stand down, doesn't mean someone else didn't do it. It's too soon after these tragic events, besides, it was a really long time ago. This breaking series of events that happened Friday is old news. Why are you attacking Hillary? It's because you hate women, isn't it?"

Romney donor vilified by Obama campaign, then subjected to 2 audits

Just months after being slimed by President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign, Mitt Romney supporter and businessman Frank VanderSloot was informed that he was going to be audited not only by the Internal Revenue Service, but by the Labor Department as well.

VanderSloot’s saga was told by columnist Kimberley Strassel in the Wall Street Journal last July.

In April 2012, VanderSloot, who served as the national co-chair of Mitt Romney’s presidential finance committee, was one of eight Romney backers to be defamed as ”wealthy individuals with less-than-reputable records” in a post on the Obama campaign’s website. The post, entitled “ Behind the curtain: a brief history of Romney’s donors,” singled out VanderSloot for being a ”litigious, combative and a bitter foe of the gay rights movement.”

Two months later, the IRS informed VanderSloot he and his wife were going to be audited, Strassel reported. Two weeks after that, VanderSloot was notified by the Labor Department that it was going to “ audit workers he employs on his Idaho-based cattle ranch under the federal visa program for temporary agriculture workers,” reported Strassel.

“The H-2A program allows tens of thousands of temporary workers in the U.S.; Mr. VanderSloot employs precisely three,” Strassel wrote. “All are from Mexico and have worked on the VanderSloot ranch—which employs about 20 people—for five years. Two are brothers. Mr. VanderSloot has never been audited for this, though two years ago his workers’ ranch homes were inspected. (The ranch was fined $8,400, mainly for too many ‘flies’ and for ‘grease build-up’ on the stove. God forbid a cattle ranch home has flies.)”

“This letter requests an array of documents to ascertain whether Mr. VanderSloot’s ‘foreign workers are provided the full scope of protections’ under the visa program: information on the hours they’ve worked each day and their rate of pay, an explanation of their deductions, copies of contracts,” she continued.

In her column, Strassel raised the specter that the IRS targeted VanderSloot for his political activism.

Six times the IRS has been accused of punishing President Obama's political opponents

The same thing was an article in Nixon's impeachment.

AP

May 11, 2013 5:47 pm

“President [Michael] Crowe and the Board of Regents will soon learn all about being audited by the IRS,”

—President Obama jokes during his commencement speech at Arizona State University in 2009.

Under President Obama the Internal Revenue Service has repeatedly been accused of using its enforcement powers to punish the White House’s political opponents. Here are six of the most egregious examples.

1. The IRS Targeted Conservative Political Organizations for InvestigationOn Friday, the IRS admitted that career employees had specifically targeted organizations that had “Tea Party” or “Patriot” in their name.

The harassment of these conservative groups included intrusive and inappropriate questionnaires and a threat to make all the confidential information public. The targeting included explicitly asking for donor lists from conservative organizations as part of their application process.

“We made some mistakes, some people didn’t use good judgment. For that, we’re apologetic,” acknowledged the director of the IRS division overseeing tax-exempt groups, Lois Lerner.

Last year, before a hearing at the House of Representatives, then IRS commissioner Douglas Shulman said, “there’s absolutely no targeting. This is the kind of back and forth that happens to people.” And still the IRS claims that the targeting of conservative groups was “in no way due to any political or partisan rationale.”

2. ProPublica Published Confidential IRS Filings on Six Conservative OrganizationsFrom December 2012 to January 2013, ProPublica published the confidential pending IRS applications for tax-exempt status of six conservative organizations.

ProPublica acknowledged that the IRS was not supposed to release information on pending claims for tax-exempt status after publishing Crossroad GPS’s application.

“[IRS spokeswoman Michelle Eldridge] cited a law saying that publishing unauthorized returns or return information was a felony punishable by a fine of up to $5,000 and imprisonment of up to five years, or both,” according to ProPublica.

Despite being informed of the illegality, confidential applications from the five other organizations were discussed in January.

3. Austan Goolsbee, Then Chair of the Council of Economic Advisors, Divulged on a Conference Call Confidential IRS Information on How Koch Industries Was Organized
AP

In a background call with reporters, a “senior administration official” used Koch Industries as an example of how large corporations used corporate structures to avoid taxes.

In the course of attacking Koch Industries, which employs over 50,000 people and is owned by prominent conservative philanthropists Charles and David Koch, the official divulged confidential tax information about the company. The official was later outed as Austan Goolsbee, the former director of the president’s Economic Recovery Board and then chair of the Council Of Economic Advisers.

“Neither the Koch website nor Forbes’ list of private companies has information regarding Koch’s tax filling status. This is confidential information,” according to Koch Industries lawyer Mark Holden.

In 2010 an investigation led by the Treasury inspector general for tax administration, Russell George, was opened after Republicans on the Senate Finance Committee requested it. The results of the investigation have not been publicly communicated, and will not be released unless Senate Democrats permit it.

4. Donors to Nonprofit Advocacy Groups Were Told that Past Donations Could Be Taxed as GiftsAfter not levying a gift tax for decades, the IRS investigated five donors to political advocacy nonprofits. Among those to receive letters threatening additional levies and taxes was conservative philanthropist Foster Friess, and the move was widely seen as an attempt to intimidate conservative organizations and donors on the eve of the 2010 midterm elections.

“Retroactive enforcement of the gift tax in this highly politicized environment raises legitimate concerns and demands further explanation,” six Republican senators, lead by Sen. Orrin Hatch, said in a letter to the IRS.

The agency was forced to abandon its efforts to enforce the rarely used gift tax on donations, acknowledging that, “This is a difficult area… with respect to which we have little enforcement history.” Again, the agency blamed “career civil servants.”

5. After Being Singled Out by an Obama Campaign Website, a Romney Supporter Was Investigated by The IRS and the Department of LaborDuring President Obama’s reelection campaign, Frank VanderSloot, a contributor to pro-Romney campaign organizations, was said by the Obama campaign to have a “less-than-reputable record” and to be a “bitter foe of the gay rights movement.”

A few months later, VanderSloot and his wife were told by the IRS they were being audited for the first time, looking over two years of past fillings.

Two weeks later, the Department of Labor informed VanderSloot that he was being investigated to ensure the three foreign workers he employs on his ranch received “the full scope of protections.”

6. The IRS Claims It Can Read Your Emails without a Warrant
AP

According to documents released last month under the Freedom of Information Act, the IRS “has long taken the position that the IRS can read your emails without a warrant—a practice that one appeals court has said violates the Fourth Amendment.” That news came last month from the ACLU, which which had filed the FOIA request.

IRS lawyers asserted that Americans are entitled to “generally no privacy” in their online communications—including email.

CNET reported that “the IRS continued to take the same position, the documents indicate, even after a federal appeals court ruled in the 2010 case U.S. v. Warshak that Americans have a reasonable expectation of privacy in their e-mail.”

Bonus: Under Obamacare, the IRS Will Become the Key Enforcer on Health Care
President Obama, Kathleen Sebelius /AP

Once Obamacare is fully implemented in 2014, the IRS will enforce 47 new tax provisions along with distributing subsidies to 18 million people and tax credits to small businesses.

The Treasury Department expects the cost of enforcement from 2010 to 2013 to total $881 million. Former IRS commissioner Douglas Shulman informed Congress last year the agency would need an additional $13.1 billion in 2014.
