I see you put your own personal intuition ahead of the science on this one.

But its not about forgetting anything. (even though people do forget plenty of what they learned when they were younger, and not just preschool stuff), its about the other people catching up once their education starts. The catch up probably wouldn't work so well if it was started later, but studies show students do catch up if it starts in kindergarten.
