No doubt those electronic systems you delivered were built with large quantities of semiconductor chips, ie microelectronics. Without them, you would have no systems to ship. All of those microelectronic products were made in facilities that employ large numbers of PhDs, whether it's research, development, or manufacturing....
I was a process engineer in a semiconductor lab which developed the processes that make those chips possible......and we valued PhD's.... Semiconductor labs don't exist very much anymore.....all R&D is done right in the manufacturing line......which cost about 5 billion dollars each to build....
