I think certain political parties are more empathetic than others because they are designed that way, so people who lack empathy for one reason or another will join that party. The reason I have been a yellow dog dem my whole life. It was the (liberal) dems that helped people during the great depression, fight for the New Deal, fought segregation, fight for marriage equality and generally fight against laws that lack empathy, or sophistication, like environmental laws.

In the US, the Democratic party (because) it is the liberal party, has always been the party with the most empathy since the turn of the century. The Republican party was the liberal party during Lincolns day and it was the liberals who were the abolitionists. Liberals changed parties at the turn of the century.

People who lack empathy, are not well received in the Democratic party, same with criminals and crazy people. But the Republican party is fine with those people.

I will take my first vacation in over four years to visit my kids in Oregon next month. I got beat up during the 08 financial debacle and have just now fought my way back. It has been a tough fight.

I have not seen my three year old grandson yet.

I am also going to see if I can still play poker. I used to make a good living playing poker, but I have not played in over four years and am getting long in the tooth. I really have no idea what will happen. But if I cannot beat the game I will not play. I am good about that.

I will go to Diamond Lil's first in Renton, Washington as they have the main $20/$40 hold em games in the Seattle area.. Five years ago I beat that game almost every time. They are good players: dealers, kids with head phones and random good players. If I can beat that game I will go south where they have larger games.

I have a rule that I never play more than two racks at any one game. That way I limit my losses if I am off my game. $20/$40 uses $5 chips and $30/$60 $10 chips and $50/$100 $25 chips. I will try and work my way up.

I am excited to see if I still have it. And feel the sunshine. I told the kids I want to go to the Eel river and swim and snorkel.
