I think the Ex-Dividend caused the selling yesterday and today. Ex-Div date of 5/9 means they would have had to own the stock on 5/8 to get the dividend on 5/16.

My question concerns what happens when the dividend is paid on 5/16. Does the stock price get adjusted downwards by the dividend amount paid out per share?

I would think that fund managers holding Apple would have DRIPS. So another question is would this flow of money back into Apple be enough to basically make the dividend payout a wash as far as the stock price?
