Steve, it looks like NRID may have had a deal to develop publicly available software on behalf of the Department of Defense. If it translates various types of inputs into a commonly understood code, and is in the public domain, it may preempt an IDX attempt to control this part of the market. I don't know.

I am not worried about NRID, however, since I think they lack the financial base to be a true competitor to IDX, and maybe even to stay in business. (You always need some revenue to stay in business, and they don't have it.) But their stock is over 50 cents now, so one share is more expensive than a can of soda. Gotta respect that.
