As an aside, my calcs show 38.6% using dates as I would mark my entry. I understand your decision, and you are the scorekeeper, but in actuality 10 of us are ahead of median. But this is now an issue as I enter the leader board. It may not be official but this is for pride anyway. All the best.

Jon

5/24/13 Contest Update
Back from Chicago where we got lucky with the weather. My wife and I did lots of walking and were much impressed by the city’s wonderful public spaces, art and fountains, as well as its magnificent architecture. Chicago politics are, of course, another story.
Chicago is not renown for its biotechs, but it does have a reputation for molecular gastronomy. And, I discovered, restaurants featuring molecular gastronomy charge as much for dinner as biotechs do for an orphan drug.
While I was blowing my cash in the windy city, stocks continued to push higher. At Friday’s close, the Contest median was up 25.16% YTD (vs. up 21.70% YTD two weeks ago), while the Nasdaq Biotech Index was up 31.94% (vs. up 31.24% YTD two weeks ago) and the Nasdaq Composite Index was up 14.56% YTD (vs. up 13.81% YTD two weeks ago).
Over the two weeks since my last update, the Contest leadership had somewhat of a shakeup. BLADE’s portfolio, up 60.44% YTD, now has a hold on first place, with BIOJIM’s portfolio, up 51.00% YTD, moving into the No. 2 position. RKRW’s portfolio, up 50.73% YTD, is a tad behind in third place.
At Friday's close, 38 of the 39 Contest portfolios were in the black with 11 of the 39 beating the NBI.
Below is the Top Ten list. Also below are the Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks ranked by % Gained and % Lost for the prior two weeks.
Portfolio adjustments: None
Enjoy the Memorial Day weekend biotechies!
(All corrections, especially adjustments for splits, greatly appreciated.)
Peace & good health,
Bulba
