Bill Bennett is an interesting case study of a kind of wandering academic. In addition to a PhD in political philosophy from the University of Texas, he also has a degree from Harvard Law School. And a mobility track following John Silber from his encounters with the powers that be at the University of Texas to the presidency of Boston University. That he could work for Silber or follow Silber is an odd story all by itself. Silber was one of the most confrontational men. Ever.

I always thought that was the best degree? What is more important than self actualization?

But then I always thought the point of college was to gain wisdom first, and get a job second.
