Re antitrust issues. I'm not an expert in anti trust law, but my recollection is that merely having more than 50% market share does not trigger anti trust concerns. I think what constitutes an antitrust concern to the FTC is pretty subjective and changes with the administration, but with respect to controlling market share, I think the percentage generally has to increase to somewhere in the range of 75% - 80% before the fed starts to fret.

It's an interesting question, but I don't think AT is a big concern to ABTX right now or even if it captures 50% of the market.

Analogy to Microsoft. They have much more than 50% of the PC operating system market. Are they considered a monopoly and regulatable? Some do and some don't. I think this relatively low profile little seed company has quite a long way to go before that becomes a worry. Of course, it would be a nice worry to have because the market loves a monopoly.

Glen: PLEASE check my answers/comments for accuracy. He was going fast and I could have easily written something down incorrectly.

Greetings Mr. Miller:
Jonathan sounds knowledgeable and I completely agree with Glen. Mr. Thomas said the 500M is just an initial target, as was 45% share . He said that he sees no reason why the 500m number can't become 700m. As a matter of fact, he said, something very much like: "hell, all these top end numbers are not cast in stone, actually, we have no idea how far we can take this, but we will keep going as far as we want to,
-OR- until someone stops us, and we do not see anything on the horizon that will stop us".

M. This should make your weekend complete. Mr. Thomas said that by July 1,98 he expects the company to be larger than DeKalb. And, that the 500m threshold will be reached by December 98 (and my own comment - probably before that date). AND, that by July 1, 98 they will be a full two years ahead of plan/schedule.

So here is one for you. What is the ABTX PEG rate, as of today's close? Perhaps it might be useful to calculate what the dollar price of the stock must rise to before the peg rate rises to 65% and 75%.

Regards, Pete

Miller,

I think you are too caught up with market share and are imagining problems that may never happen. ABTX should only grow so large and powerful as to have regulatory problems. Imagine for a moment that you were back in the mid to late 1980's and you were voicing these same concerns about Microsoft. You might have been telling everyone to think about all the problems MSFT would have if MS-DOS became too big...what would the gov't do if they contolled 70, or 80, or 90% of computer OS's in the US, let alone the whole world? And my God, you might have also worried and asked, "what could they possibly do next to top that?" If you had been as worried about MSFT market share problems back then, as you seem to be about ABTX today, AND, had managed to hold your MSFT shares in spite of your thoughts, then today you could be worrying yourself everyday to the bank with your huge fortune. I certainly don't expect ABTX to be as successful as MSFT, and I certainly don't see the growth potential of ABTX as posing a problem that will have a negative impact on share price appreciation.

Management is so sharp and so focussed, that they will take the company exactly where they want it to be. One of the most important things I came away with from the Dain presentation was the fact that Dr. Johnny Thomas has a vision, and a plan, along with the intelligence and the drive, to make ABTX into a powerhouse and a formidable player in the forage and turf niche, that he is so adroitly carving out.

Ponder this, Mr Miller...worry is a wasted emotion. You can act and react to an event, but to worry? In 4,5,6 years or more, if ABTX even has a regulatory problem, then you can react by either selling out at 20x to 50x(or more) your original investment, or perhaps, the event presents you with an additional buying opportunity.

I will continue this in a later reply.

regards for now,
glen
