la zita-

"...if you really learn how to pay attention, then you will
know there are other options. it will actually be within
your power to experience a crowded, hot, slow, consumer-hell
type situation as not only meaningful, but sacred, on fire
with the same force that made the stars: love, fellowship, the
mystical oneness of all things deep down."

it's why i do most of my shopping at walmart.

re: "this is water"

i did enjoy that. basically, all he was saying was
find new and creative ways to perceive your day.

i read a book based upon a similar concept back in the 80's

"Playful Perception: Choosing How to Experience Your World"

there's a pretty fair review here:

cye.colorado.edu

as far as advice for young graduates, a couple of weeks ago
i ran across something that was popular in the 60's. now that
i'm in MY 60's, it still seems like sound advice for meeting
and living in our "too human - too rushed - too small minded"
world.

desiderata.com

then again, there's the mister rodgers and the neil degrasse tyson approaches:

<snaps his fingers on both hands, grins wildly, and says>

didja feel like going like that?
