I think one of his/her replies is more illuminating. This kind of thinking is right out of the communist manifesto, and one could argue, the folks who wrote the original communist manifesto were ignorant of the destruction communist/marxism would play on the human desire for achievement, improvement and sense of self satisfaction at having built something yourself. Liberal marxists today have no excuse. The history of death, poverty, decay and starvation are everywhere marxism has been tried, yet they truly believe in their heart of hearts utopia would rein if only they were in charge of all the levers of commerce, all the decisions of humankind, and all the ethical quandaries.
He says he is just presenting the problem.

I think what he is getting at is: just imagine a future where there is no poverty and no over population and the planet is cared for. That is where we must go. We cannot have a situation where the Waltons have more money that the bottom 40% of the population and we are polluting the entire planet.

We need to live at a higher level of understanding than we are now. We need a prosperous middle class and maybe no rich or poor. Things were best for us when we had the 90% tax rate on the rich and strong unions and vibrant social planning.
