My younger daughter is a scientist in three disciplines (still going to school for two), environmental science, computer science and quantitative analysis (U of Oregon) and my son in law is a research scientist in global warming at a university in Portland. PHD in atmospheric chemistry from UC Irving.

My older daughter is a lawyer *Loyola0-lol. But is most proud of her BA in anthropology from UC Berkeley.

But they all have very strong liberal arts educations and are full blown communists-lol. Makes me very happy.

It was the philosophers that figured out civilization and democracy.

And when I go to the docs, who have little liberal arts education, I am always struck by how backward many are. One can see they are smart, but uneducated. Half are Republicans.

Nothing is worse than living and seeing life through the eyes of a Republican-lol.

My younger daughter sent her virtual hubby back to school and he is getting a degree in herpetology. So yeah, lots of scientists-lol.

Better than lots of lawyers I will agree.

<<<< Now kids with non-science degrees are working at Starbucks >>>>

I talked recently to a young fellow working at a Starbucks corner type one person coffee place in Corvalis. It was an extensive conversation and he said early on he got some Starbucks stock - might have been instead of part of his wages? Something like that. He claimed his Starbucks stock is now worth $250,000. ...........Meanwhile what's the average amount of student loans for a Science degree?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not belittling the Science degree. But still, give a man "good common sense" and he is waaaay ahead no matter what he decides to do..........
