It really doesn't matter who owns it. Judge Isgur limited the BP lawsuit's legal expenses budget to 200,000 dollars per annum. That might be enough money to get you one lawyer working 8 hours a week on this case. How many lawyers do you think BP will employ full-time to defend this action? How large a settlement do you think Judge Isgur envisioned when he placed such a low cap on that budget? I think he anticipates some sum in excess of maybe 500,000 dollars, maybe as much as a million dollars. That would be a pretty good settlement for a company that was only minimally impacted by the Macondo spill.
