If they were really a party that offered ideas to limit trough hungry politicians, and curtailed special interests, if they had some real interest in "conserving" what is good about this country- a great public education system, the idea that all people have something to contribute, the melting pot idea (which I kind of like)- then yeah, I'd find that kind of attractive. I have no nostalgia for the past. Past problems don't thrill me any more than present ones. But if the republicans got over their hard on for the '50's, and managed to come up with some innovative way to address the 21st century, then I'd consider them. But until that happens, and it never may, I'm going to be a solid democrat. Obviously too conservative a democrat for Koan, but then almost everyone I know in the Bay Area would be that as well.
