Why do you believe in Jesus, but not Joseph Smith, Mohammed or L. Ron Hubbard? Is it because you are a conservative herd creature, and want to be in the biggest herd?

>That's why you clearly have a higher standard of proof. That's understandable for a man who claimed to be the son of God. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof.

Nah, I've just been more interested in Jesus than Plato and Socrates. I've probably spent as much time researching whether Shakespeare existed than Jesus, actually. It's just interesting.

And frankly, if we decided that for some argument's sake on SI to discuss the existence of Socrates, I'd probably research that for several hours.

>I can only think of one reason why you're willing to go further to disprove Jesus' very existence (vs. Plato or Socrates or whoever), and it's because deep down, you really do want to spite Christians.

Yeah. Whatever. Most of my friends and half of my family are Christians. I have no interest in spiting them. I don't believe that Moses, or Abraham, or David existed, and I've also spent tons of time reading about their historicity. But that doesn't mean I'm trying to spite Jews. If you wanted to discuss the historicity of Moses, I'd be in for that. But we never discuss that here.
