There was no giveaway! If there had been the guy wouldn't have had to bid $1.8M he didn't have and didn't intend to pay to win a lease of 22,500 acres.

$80 an acre for a frontier land lease is not a giveaway.

The company only maybe hits oil after expending millions upon millions on geophysics and drilling.

IF oil is found the company pays a royalty on the oil to the Gov.

Even after they hit oil they have to put in disposal wells and treatment facilities which cost further millions of dollars that you I presume don't have.

If it is so easy to do Koan, you and Wharfy should become wildcatters and show the rest of the world how it is done.

If Tim De Christopher was a little smarter he could have walked out of the auction made a few phone calls and sold the leases for double what he was theoretically supposed to pay.

The next highest bidder probably won the leases.

God bless him and all wildcatters.

And instead fixated on some poor misguided slob who spent two years in jail for having the courage of his convictions.
He spent 2 years in jail for breaking the law, but I know laws aren't supposed to be applied to liberals.
