From what I have heard about the new CEO (somebody called him a 'cheerleader'?), he should be a bit more responsive to letting investors what is the current status of operations. I also heard that although he did sell shares in the prior runup, his sickness and subsequent withdrawal from active operations with the company occurred before the problems hit the company. We'll see, I guess. I remain cautiously optimistic that the short term trough has been reached this morning, and still confident of a strong Q1.

OFF TOPIC

HI Paul!
I'm trying to learn in general out of every trading situation and this is not specific to VLNC. How do you determine if the high volume wasn't distribution?I read that unchanged price can also be that. Do you deduct that from the in general positive tone of trading which was in 80% of time above open/close level? I'm getting a little bit into this intraday quote stuff and still find it quiet difficult to read. I used in the past Internet trader but now learned that there charts are obviously wrong:
they give a block of 280K traded at 15:50 at a price of 5 11/16. I followed their tickchart and soon came over the total of 317200 shares that yahoo gives for the daily total.Quote.com is Ok but not as nice to analyze as the internet trader chart. What do you use?

Paul: I concur. It appears someone IS accumulating the hell out of this stock. It's ME!! heh! Seriously, though, I do expect choppiness until year-end. Although it's hard to know for sure just why VLNC's trading in the manner it is right now, one could cite sundry paranoid rationale's(ie. MM's, tax-loss, etc.), and find that to a certain extent those rationale's are probably right. God know's from a MM's viewpoint, this recent CR announcement presented them with a golden opportunity, one which I know they'd make the most of. Just try sitting in an after hours bar down in the Wall Street area and listen to the conversations of the folks who man the trading terminal's as they talk about the day's activities and how they "moved things around." It's a reallllll eye-opener.

That said, I also agree that short-term there appears to be resistance forming to $6. That's ok, maybe I'm crazy but I'm taking all profits from my other speculative holdings and continuing to lay 'em down here. It's gonna be a very interesting '98, me thinks!

Regards!

John~
